Indonesian- Reception

All You Need to Know

This term students will be introduced to the country of Indonesia and the language of Indonesian.  We will begin by looking at greetings, colours, numbers, instructional language  (duduk, berdiri,  terima kasih,  sama-sama), and talking about ourselves (nama,  saya, suka). 


We will then look at a simple story called Orangutan Lapar, combining some of that new language. Through the story we will practise common Indonesian language structures, and participate in a variety of games and activities to help students acquire Indonesian language.

This term students will be working on a story called ‘Bluey mau makan.’ Using revision of some previous structures as well as introduction to the new structures of mau-wants; punya-has; kasih-gives; minum-drinks; haus-thirsty; berkata-says. 


Students will also be exploring cultural habits around mealtimes in Indonesia. Through the story we will practise common Indonesian language structures, and participate in a variety of games and activities to help students acquire Indonesian language. 

This term students will extend their vocabulary to include the words ada-there is; nama-name; lapar-hungry; makan-eat; berlari-run; pohon-tree and rumah-house.  We will be practising the new vocab through a story called Harimau makan Elsa.  


Through the story we will practise the target structures, and participate in a variety of games and activities to help students acquire the Indonesian language.
